Concord, N.H.– Since October 1, many high school seniors across New Hampshire have turned their attention to an important step in the college application process; applying for federal financial aid. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required by all colleges and universities across the nation to determine a student’s eligibility for federal financial aid, federal education grants and for some universities, institutional grants and assistance.
New Hampshire families needing assistance with this form are encouraged to register for a free, one-hour FAFSA filing event at one of fourteen participating college or universities during the month of November. During each event, college financial aid professionals will assist families to submit the form and answer financial aid questions. Students applying to any two- or four-year institution are encouraged to attend a FAFSA-filing event.
“It is critical for students to understand that these forms need to be submitted to meet an institution’s deadline in order to be considered for financial aid,” stated College Outreach Specialist Angela Castonguay. “We recognize these forms may cause anxiety for students and parents but college financial aid professionals are available to answer any questions and ensure the forms are filed accurately.”
Pre-registration is required by visiting nhheaf.org/events_fafsa.asp or by calling 800.525.2577, ext. 117.
