Concord, NH - Granite State Management & Resources (GSM&R) is pleased to announce its support of U.S. Senator Richard Durbin’s recent request for the establishment of additional support for servicemember and veteran student loan borrowers. In 2012, GSM&R became a subcontractor for NH Higher Education Loan Corporation, a not-for-profit federal contractor of the U.S. Department of Education, to service the William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan Program. According to GSM&R President & CEO, René A. Drouin, "Supporting the financial well-being of the men and women who serve our country is among our greatest privileges as a federal loan servicer."
Currently, GSM&R has a dedicated section of its website where servicemembers and veterans can access information specifically for them. Details about the Servicemember Civil Relief Act Interest Rate Cap, Military Service Deferment, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), Deferments After Active Duty, Repayment Based on Income, and more can be easily be accessed online through https://www.gsmr.org/servicemembers.asp.
Further, GSM&R is creating a dedicated Servicemember and Veteran Liaison hotline for its military borrowers to receive the best possible support and service regarding student loan repayment options and benefits for which they uniquely qualify. By July 1, an option will exist within its phone system especially for Servicemembers and Veterans. According to Drouin, "Ensuring our armed forces are provided with the information they need to make education funding decisions is critically important. We appreciate Senator Durbin’s leadership on this issue."
