Concord, NH - The NH Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) is eager to register students from Coös County high schools for its annual college planning conference, Destination College. The statewide event will be held on Saturday, April 5 at host campus Southern NH University. The first 50 Coös County students who register for the free event will receive a t-shirt thanks to the work of a new program, College for Coös. Led by AmeriCorps*Vista Coordinator, Scott Wilson, College for Coös is a college access program exclusively focused on working with schools to provide youth with access to resources and planning support for college admission and financial aid. According to Wilson, “Destination College is one of the best opportunities to receive critical information and inspiration for students and parents. The event gives students the opportunity to get a head start on the college planning process with advice from local college planning experts at no charge.”
The half-day event is filled with informational sessions on college planning topics including college admissions, the college essay, standardized testing, information for student athletes, scholarships and financial aid. Students and parents in attendance will receive tips and guidance from experts including Wilson and the College Outreach Specialists from NHHEAF’s Center for College Planning. The event closes with a free college fair including over forty colleges from across New England. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a raffle including gift baskets from local vendors and one $500 scholarship.
