North Country Eighth Graders to Get a Head Start on Planning for Future in Education

Concord, NH - On Friday, April 12, eighth grade students from Berlin, Gorham, Pittsburg, West Stewartstown, Statford, Groveton, Colebrook and Whitefield will spend a half-day at White Mountains Community College as part of the Discover U program. Discover U, a college awareness program created by The NHHEAF Network Organizations’ Center for College Planning, focuses on students headed into the all-important high school years to get them excited about the opportunities higher education holds for them.

This interactive early college planning program affords students the opportunity to tour a college campus and learn first-hand about the opportunities education beyond high school holds, including information about majors of study and life as a college student. Students in attendance will be greeted by White Mountains Community College staff, College Outreach Specialists from the Center for College Planning and the NHHEAF College Planning Bear and will receive backpacks stuffed with exciting information about what they can do now to prepare for their future in education.
