Two Local High School Students Win College Scholarships
Concord, NH - Two local high school juniors from Salem, NH were the lucky recipients of $500 college scholarships at the Destination CollegeSM event on Saturday, March 29th.
Natasha Larason and Kaleigh Liupakka of Salem, NH were two of 1200 high school juniors and parents attending the popular college planning event at Southern NH University. Destination CollegeSM is organized by the NHHEAF Network Organizations’ Center for College Planning to provide students and parents with the knowledge and resources they need to successfully navigate through the college application and financial aid processes.
All student attendees were entered into a raffle to win one of four $500 college scholarships. Larason and Liupakka were two of the four winners drawn and were presented with their scholarships by event coordinator, Mandi Barwell. “This event is always a great success for the Organizations,” said Barwell. “We congratulate the scholarship winners and are thrilled to be able to offer all New Hampshire families assistance in planning for higher education.”
Destination CollegeSM provides the opportunity for attendees to learn from a number of informative sessions that cover topics such as the college application and interview, writing a college essay, financial aid, college athletics and choosing a college major. Governor John Lynch also addressed the attendees, explaining the necessity of a college degree to be successful in today’s workforce and the current need of college educated workers.
