2018 “I Am College Bound/I Applied” NH’s College Application Week Statewide Kick-off at Merrimack Valley High School Tuesday, November 13


College Application Filing Available at 42 Public New Hampshire High Schools During Month of November


EDITORS, NEWS DIRECTORS: You are invited to attend and provide media coverage of the 2018 statewide campaign kick-off for “I Am College Bound/I Applied”, an initiative to increase the number of first-generation and low-income students pursuing a college degree or other higher education credential.

The primary purpose of this effort, coordinated nationally by the American Council on Education, is to help high school seniors navigate the complex college admissions process and ensure they apply to at least one postsecondary institution during a daytime event at their high school. In 2018, it is expected 1,700 New Hampshire high school seniors will participate at 42 public high schools statewide, submitting over 4,200 college applications.

This statewide initiative is coordinated by The NHHEAF Network Organizations’ Center for College Planning (CCP) in partnership with NH colleges and universities, NH school counselors, NH Department of Education, NH Charitable Foundation, NH College & University Council, and other statewide stakeholders.

What:

  • New Hampshire Governor Christopher T. Sununu (invited), U.S. Congresswoman Ann McLane Kuster (confirmed), NH Department of Education Commissioner Frank Edelblut (confirmed), Merrimack Valley High School graduate and former Major League Baseball pitcher Bob Tewksbury (confirmed) to speak with Merrimack Valley High School (MVHS) students in grades 11 and 12 to encourage postsecondary education and creating a plan to be college- and career-ready
  • Immediately following the ceremony, admission representatives from area colleges and the college access programs will provide on-on-one support to high school seniors as they apply for college admission in MVHS library.

  • Kick-off – Tuesday, November 13, from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
  • College Application Filing – Tuesday, November 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon
